Valentine Conversation Hearts - Free Crochet Pattern

Valentines day is fast approaching! I wanted to create a valentines gift that's easy and fast to create, and the crocheted Conversation Hearts is born. You can turn them into brooches and pins, Christmas ornaments, or put a bunch of them into a decorative bowl. Tuck them into your loved one's lunch boxes to brighten their day!

My Valentine Conversation Hearts is also available for purchase in my Etsy shop.

The hearts will crochet to be about 2 inches tall and wide.

The pattern is for personal use only.

  1. Use embroidery floss to sew on valentines day words on the first crochet heart. Hint: Sew words in between row 3 - 6. Row 5-6 can sew in about 5 letters and Row 3-4 can sew in about 4 letters.
  2. If making a brooch, sew the brooch backing on Row 5-6 of the second crochet heart.
  3. Place the 2 crochet hearts back to back, so the brooch pin and embroidery are facing outward. Thread yarn through corresponding chains on both pieces and work a row of single crochet stitches, one sc into each chain around the heart, and 3 sc into each turning chain. This will join the 2 pieces of heart together and hide the loose ends. Make sure the 2 heart pieces remain flat as you work the sc around.
  4. That's it you are done!
